After that, she made her Broadway stage debut as Becky thatcher in the comedy musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In the following year, she was cast in the popular teen drama TV series Veronica Mars (2004). The performance was praised by critics and a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actress on television. The 2014 movie, she reprised her role as the title character in the new season, she played the title character. Bell has been on the screen from 2007 to 2008 in the role of Elle Bishop in Heroes, which was a drama about superheroes. Bell voiced the character's narrator on the Teen Drama Series Gossip Girl. She will reprise her role in the sequel set for 2021. Bell was also Showtime comedy House of Lies' lead actress, Jeannie van de Hooven. Bell was the lead character Eleanor Shellstrop, the leading character in the critically acclaimed NBC comedy series The Good Place. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Bell played the character of Eleanor Shellstrop on the streaming show The Woman in the Home Across the Street From the Girl in the Window.
