Carey was almost 5'10 tall when she became a high-end model. Her popularity with American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was high. Her father was an eminent geologist and awarded the title of Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over due to her father's work. While in college when she was modeling for a small amount of time and was able to attract the attention from Ford model Agency representatives in New York. The model lived in France for a short time, including Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned to New York for her college studies and to further develop her modeling career. In between her modeling assignments she was also a full-time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. After a while she discovered an desire to act. She was a student at Neighborhood Playhouse New York. Her acting debut came with a small role in 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. When she is not working she loves skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks as well as whitewater kayaking.
