Anamaria Marinca, born in Romania, is an actress. Her screen debut was with Sex Traffic, a Channel 4 film in which she received the British Academy Television Award as the best actress. Fluently speaks French, German and English. Her father was an actor and her mother was a violinist. The award was presented to her as with the Best Female Actor Award in 2000, for her performance in the Mangalia Gala of Young Actors. She was selected as the first European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in 2008. The film won two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize for the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Youth Without Youth by Francis Ford Coppola was another film that she was in. In 2008, Marinca portrayed Yasim in BBC's five-episode The Last Enemy. Marinca is a regular on Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie. Later, she had a major part in the film Fury where she portrayed an German woman named Irma aunt of Emma.
